Constructed on top of a hill above Chora, the Orthodox Monastery of Saint John the Theologian is among the most important religious centers in Greece. It looks like a fortress but inside there is a monastery, built on the site of an ancient temple.

Tradition says that in this cave, Apostle John wrote the Book of Revelation, inspired by God. An entire monastery has been built around this cave.

Arki and Marathi are two remote islands daily connected to Patmos by boat. There have few inhabitants and they are known for their crystal beaches, accessed only on foot.
